Bow Valley High School has been a cornerstone of the Cochrane community since its establishment. Over the years, our music program has grown and evolved, earning a reputation for excellence in music education. Our dedicated teachers, many of whom are accomplished musicians, bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the classroom. Taylor Grant is the Band and Music Educator and Director at Bow Valley High School in Cochrane, Alberta. With a robust educational foundation, Taylor holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance (Voice) and a Bachelor of Arts in Greek and Roman Studies from the University of Calgary. He furthered his studies with a Master of Arts from the same institution, where he studied voice under Dr. Joelle Welling and jazz under Dr. Jeremy Brown. Currently, Taylor is pursuing a Masters of Education in Secondary Music Education and New Media at the University of Alberta, focusing his thesis on the applications of Music Technology in high school music and band programs.
With six years of teaching experience in Rocky View Schools, Taylor has been instrumental in fostering a passion for the arts and music among his students. His efforts have been crucial in rebuilding and expanding music and band programs post-pandemic. Taylor’s dedication to music education extends beyond the classroom as he annually adjudicates Rocky View School’s junior band festival, “WestFest,” for grades 6-8.
In addition to his teaching duties, Taylor actively participates in the local music scene. He plays tenor saxophone with Cochrane’s community concert band, ‘Band on the Bow,’ and their community jazz ensemble, ‘Riverside Jazz.’ His involvement in these ensembles reflects his commitment to both personal musicianship and community engagement.
