Prerequisite:  A passing mark in Instrumental Jazz 9, 10 or 20

Corequisite:  Members must be enrolled in Instrumental Music 10, 20 or 30 and in the Concert Band 15,25, and 35. These courses are offered outside of the timetable (and in addition to a full timetable).

This is a jazz performance-based program. Activities will focus on the development of each student as a well-rounded musician. This will include more advanced jazz technique, theory, listening, music appreciation, rhythm section foundations, and large ensemble performance. We will build upon skills learned in Instrumental Music/Band and focus on advanced jazz specific skills including various styles and form, improvisation, spoken/played jazz articulations, and extended technique. The development of teamwork, individual practice, creativity, self-expression, and complex thinking skills are also of great importance.
